PyCASSO stands for Python CALIFA Stellar Synthesis Organizer, and its main
objective is to help handling stellar synthesis datacubes produced by
`STARLIGHT `_ from integrated field spectra
(IFS) produced by the `CALIFA survey `_.
This manual serves two purposes: it is a reference for the data cubes API, and a
guide to the usage pattern of PyCASSO. The examples, when possible, contain
real world data and perform common tasks when dealing with IFS data.
The CALIFA data cubes were preprocessed using a tool called QBICK to obtain
spectra with a minimum signal-to-noise ratio using Voronoi binning. PyCASSO and
QBICK may merge in the future.
